Our ballroom dance shoes are made for women and men, with closed, stable styles for the waltz, foxtrot, quickstep and Argentine tango, and strappy sandals for Latin dances such as cha-cha, rumba, samba and salsa. Every pair of ballroom shoes has a dance sole that glides on parquet, so you can find dancesport shoes that suit your style.
Choosing the right ballroom dance shoes
- For women: a closed pump with a 5 to 7 cm heel to start with.
- For men: a lace-up shoe with a low heel, in leather or patent leather.
- The sole: suede, for the gliding movements of standard dances.
Our guide: choosing your first pair of ballroom dance shoes. Our selections: women and men.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ballroom dance shoes and Latin dance shoes?
In ballroom dance (waltz, foxtrot, quickstep), women wear a closed pump that holds the foot during gliding movements. In Latin, you wear an open strappy sandal, which is more flexible, to work on the ball of the foot.
What heel height is best for starting ballroom dance?
For women, a 5 to 6 cm heel is the easiest to start with. For men, the heel remains low, around 2.5 cm. See our guide high or flat heel.
Unsure about the size? Measure the length of your foot in centimeters and write to us at contact@dansezo.fr: we will advise you on the right shoe size for the chosen model. Also check our shoe size guide.
What are dancesport shoes?
Dancesport shoes are dance shoes designed for ballroom and Latin dances. You will find closed pumps and lace-up shoes for the standard dances, and strappy sandals for Latin, all with a dance sole that glides on parquet.
Which ballroom dance shoes should a beginner choose?
For women, a closed pump with a 5 to 6 cm heel is the easiest to start with. For men, a lace-up shoe with a low heel, in leather or patent leather, is a good choice. In both cases, choose a suede sole for the gliding movements of standard dances.
