Learn more about this collection
Our men's ballroom dance shoes are designed for standard dances, where the dancer guides his partner in a closed position: waltz, Viennese waltz, ballroom tango, slow fox, and quickstep. They are lace-up shoes with a low heel and a dance sole.
Why ballroom shoes instead of regular shoes?
- The low heel, around 2.5 cm: in standard dances, men often walk forward on their heels. A low heel keeps the weight evenly distributed and allows for precise guidance.
- The suede sole: it glides just enough for long movements and turns, without slipping or catching.
- The flexible upper: the front of the foot bends easily for rising onto demi-pointe.
- The laces: they keep the foot secure during the quick rotations of the Viennese waltz and quickstep.
Classes, dances, or competitions
For classes, matte leather or faux leather shoes are sufficient and can be worn with socks. For dances and competitions, patent leather is the classic choice: it shines under the lights and can be cleaned with a wipe. Our guide: patent leather or matte leather for dancers.
What if you also dance Latin dances?
For cha-cha-cha, rumba, or paso doble, many dancers prefer a slightly higher heel, such as a Cuban heel, around 3.8 to 4.5 cm. See all our men's dance shoes, including salsa, tango, and Latin shoes.
Sizes
Most styles start at size 38 and go up to 45 or 46, some up to 47. Dance shoes should fit snugly, with no space at the heel.
