Learn more about this collection
Our jazz shoes are made for modern jazz, hip-hop and contemporary classes, with a flexible split sole that lets the foot point, pivot and jump without slipping. Whether you prefer classic black jazz shoes or more cushioned dance sneakers, this collection brings together two families of jazz dance shoes for the studio.
Jazz shoes or dance sneakers?
- Jazz shoes: low leather or faux leather upper, split sole under the arch. They hug the foot and create a clean line: ideal for modern jazz and technical classes.
- Dance sneakers: split or two-part sole, often with cushioning under the heel. They provide better support for jumps and fast sequences: ideal for hip-hop, street jazz or Zumba.
Choosing the right shoe
- The sole: split to allow the foot to point, and smooth enough to turn without catching.
- Support: laces or elastic; the heel must not slip out during jumps.
- Size: snug, with no room to spare: shoes that are too large hinder footwork.
- Use: keep them for the studio, as the soles wear out quickly outdoors.

Frequently asked questions
Can you do modern jazz in sports sneakers?
For a trial class, yes. But sports sneakers have a thick, grippy sole that blocks pivots and prevents the foot from pointing. Jazz shoes or split-sole dance sneakers are much better suited.
Why a split sole?
The sole is split under the arch: the foot can arch and point completely, while maintaining support under the ball of the foot and the heel.
What size should you choose for jazz shoes?
Your usual size, snug. Leather and faux leather stretch slightly with use, so you should not choose a larger size.
Unsure about the size? Measure the length of your foot in centimeters and write to us at contact@dansezo.fr: we will advise you on the right size for the model you have chosen. See also our size guide.
Why choose black jazz shoes?
Black is the classic color for jazz shoes: it gives a clean, uniform line from leg to foot and suits most studio classes. Tan is also available, depending on the model.
